Lore Glossary

Key terms, powers, artifacts, factions, and realms from Demon Rush.

Lore Entries

Imperium

Raw power of one’s soul. Can be strengthened through training like a muscle. All life is connected by the Creator and shares a fragment of God’s Imperium. Individuals have Imperium limits. Imperium can be stolen/absorbed; uncontrolled absorption can corrupt and drive someone insane. Imperium dust can carry memory shards (Rush experiences Jarzkon’s memories).

Story Importance

Core power system for Holy Knights training, Hell combat, Black Hand hierarchy, and weapon-bearing thresholds such as Aethernus.

Aethernus

Aethernus, also known as the feather, is Soren’s true sword. It is the signature blade of Michael, the Celestial Beacon of Light, given to Soren by Michael. Soren is currently too weak to use it properly: it requires an almost unlimited / enormous Imperium reserve to wield, and Soren’s Imperium is still unstable and undernourished. Az was able to temporarily activate Aethernus, showing that the weapon has power beyond Soren’s current ability to control. Az warns Soren never to release it from its possession again until ready. In Chapter 15, Soren’s sword activates against Rush even though Rush thought it only worked against demons.

Aethernus should not be confused with the Knight Templar Sword. The Knight Templar Sword is the merchant/training blade Soren currently uses until he is strong enough to wield the feather.

Story Importance

Central holy weapon and trust symbol linking Michael to Soren’s path. Soren’s true sword, not the blade he currently fights with.

Knight Templar Sword

The Knight Templar Sword is the training sword Az obtained for Soren from the merchant (Bardo). Soren currently uses it for training and combat while he is still too weak to properly wield Aethernus. It is not Soren’s true sword; it is a temporary weapon until Soren becomes strong enough to use Aethernus. Relics of this tradition include a blade with holy runes Leve (lightweight), Critica (increased damage against demons), and Obice (resistance to evil spells).

The Knight Templar Sword should not be confused with Aethernus (the feather).

Story Importance

Soren’s current training and combat weapon while he is still too weak to use Aethernus.
